GMF Grant Announcement!

Bublr, Milwaukee’s nonprofit bikeshare operator, is proud to announce that thanks to a generous grant from the Greater Milwaukee Foundation, Bublr will be able to expand and improve its adaptive bike program.

In 2019 Bublr launched a pilot adaptive bike program with support from the City of Milwaukee, the City of Wauwatosa, The Ability Center, and the Anthem Foundation. This program integrates upright tricycles, hand-cycles, and side-by-side tricycles into the Bublr system to ensure that people with different abilities can still access the Bublr System. Since the programs launch, people have taken more than 600 trips on the adaptive bicycles.

This generous grant from the Greater Milwaukee Foundation will allow Bublr to repair some adaptive bikes that have been damaged during their years of service, as well as purchase four additional bikes to add to the system.

Bublr is incredibly grateful and excited about this grant and the opportunity it represents to improve equitable access to physical activity in Milwaukee County!

Pass Type Updates

We’ve updated how overage fees are charged due to an update our software provider has made to the system. Instead of billing $3/per additional 30-minute block, riders will only be charged for the time the bike remains checked out at the rate of $0.25 per minute. The most frequent number of overage minutes for these passes is 1 minute, followed by 2 minutes so for these trips there would only be a $0.25 or $0.50 overage, respectively rather than going a minute over a bam being hit with a $3 charge. Old rates will remain in effect until you pass is renewed. All new passes will have the $0.25/minute overage pricing.

If you have an active 30-Day, Annual, or Buslr membership on auto-renew, your auto-renew will not work. You'll have to go into your account to purchase a new pass. For everyone else, this is just informational.

Overall, Bublr thinks this will make more sense and work better for most people, and be easier to explain. If you have any questions don't hesitate to give us a call/text at 414-931-1121 or email us at support@bublrbikes.org.
